4-tile sets (kong is 4 x identical); kongs only exist as melds


kong always counts as pung

Making big melded kong

tile just discarded can be claimed to complete a kong from any player; say Kong, turn your 3 tiles face up, take the discard, put it with your 3 tiles; Mahjong overrides Kong overrides Chi

place the discard to show who discarded; take replacement tile from the back end of the wall and continue your turn

Making small melded kong

after drawing a tile, can add it or another tile in the hand to a melded pung to complete a kong

Robbing small melded kong

a small melded kong just created can be robbed to win; the tile just added is considered to be a discard and can be claimed; the kong is destroyed; no taking a replacement tile and no continuing the turn
